I had heard Priest before, but the first CD i actually brought was the Essentials one.... Got it for $10, wasn't going to pass up on such variety at that price. It has a good mix of songs, helped guide me as to what albums I should purchase next. Now that i have all of them, I would say that getting a compilation is a great place to start, especially with a band such as Priest due to the varying styles between all their albums. And having such a large back catalogue..... it's gotta be 2 disc      |   | | Darth_Painkiller_0870 wrote: | | I agree, DC...any DIY Priest compilation would have to be 2 discs.  In fact, I think a couple of years ago when I got my youngest brother interested in JP, I went and ripped the JP Essential's CD for him, among other bands.    |   | | devils_child wrote: | | I had a friend who hadn't listened to Priest since the 80's LOL... ask me to make a CD compiliation for him. I did the set list from the current tour.... 1. Because it is a good mix of songs and; 2. I wanted to rub it in that I got to hear them play all these songs live.

In all seriousness I did one for my brother before I went and purchased a heap of Priest CD's for him. List goes as follows.
(Not in exact order)

Hellion/Electric Eye
Exciter
Hell Bent For Leather
Green Manalishi
Metal Gods
Desert Plains
Painkiller
Between The Hammer And The Anvil
Touch Of Evil
Sinner
Better By You, Better Than Me
Devil's Child
Deal With The Devil
Judas Rising

Hot Rockin'
Breaking The Law
The Sentinel

(Keep In mind he was suggesting to me what he wanted on the disc. If i was doing a disc for someone who had never listened to Priest before it would be different. Probably would make 2 discs and include something from every album.) |
