Believe me, when Rob left Priest for a solo career, I was so pissed off I couldn't even see straight! I don't know, I just don't feel that this time around it is his fault. I do think it was a mistake for him to play Priest tracks on the Halford tour though and I do see how that could really piss off the rest of the band. He really should have kept the two separate. Was that it? Who knows, but I'm sure it didn't help the situation. I know that KK didn't need to be there while they were working on his golf course, I was just saying that it's the thing he enjoys and that's what he decided to do during his time off. Mark said that he thinks they looked into the future and asked themselves how much longer they saw themselves going and someone said they didn't see more than 2 years. That killed the album right there I guess because they don't have enough time to do an album and tour....

You know what I can't stand is the name of this tour! Epitaph? I know it's the name of their song and seemed fitting, but I can't get past the fact that it brings to mind a tombstone. I feel like I'm going to the cemetary to bury my best friend! It doesn't invoke happy feelings for me and I don't feel like celebrating..... All Guns Blazing would have been much better.

combination is right, but I lean towards the rest of the boys not liking Halford touring during the break.  dunno, thats my guess.

You're certainly right about one thing, something happend.  What it was exactly, who knows.  I'm assuming it was a combination of a few things.  Even as late as earlier this year they were still talking about the future and not knowing when the Priest Mchine would stop.  So...what happend?  Only two things could make sense to me, Glenn's health and / or inner turmoil.  There's only been one other time this has happend and it was Rob wanting to do his solo work.  Don't think that I look at him and his solo career as a bad thing because I don't (we rocked out at Ozzfest did we not?).  But I have to believe that it's conflicting, like trying to please two's impossible to do.  Maybe you're right in that a decision was made and Rob is just taking advantage of the down time, can't fault him for that.  What I'm looking at though is the timeline.  Just months ago things were fine, now they're not...what happend?  FYI, KK need not be present to build a golf course, it's not like he's out there operating the back-hoe.  They could be laying down the music now and let Rob lay down the vocals when he's done with this tour of his.  Again, makes me believe there are more grievous matters at heart which leads me to consider health issues as it has been a factor in the recent past.

Amen, Sista'.

Send me some of those blow up boxing gloves while you are at it. They sound cool. Much better than Hulk Hands.

I agree, they could pull it off without Ian, say with Mike Davis. But I don't think they would ever replace any of the 4 original members, not now. I would hate to see any of them replaced, it just wouldn't be the same. And I think that is what's going on here. Someone only feels that they have 2 years left in them and they decided to tour and call it quits instead of replacing him.

I completely agree with you Ron, that the last time Priest toured they had no idea that the next would be a farewell tour. I believe that they all wanted to make another album. Something obviously changed. I think it's very easy to blame Rob because you see him out recording a new album and then touring. I think that is what Priest management WANTS you to think! I'm not buying it and here's why: the ENTIRE band said they were taking a year off and would get together over the holidays to decide what was next did they not? So, why is it OK for KK to build his golf course, Scott to go out and do some shows and Glenn and Ian spend time with their families but it's NOT OK for Rob to do what he loves and that's write and record???? If they all agreed that nothing was going to happen with Priest this year, why the hell can't Rob record a new album and tour? Well, it makes Priest look bad now doesn't it? Hmmm, too bad! I just don't see Rob saying to the rest of the band "No, I'm not going to sit down and write a new Priest album because I'm busy with Halford." What I think is, Rob knew this was coming and he knew that he wasn't done yet! He decided to push this Halford album out as fast as he could and tour it so that when Priest is over, it will only have been 2-3 years since the Halford band toured instead of 10. I don't blame him one damn bit if that's the case. Now, are the rest of the guys pissed at him for it? Quite possibly. Of course, it's also possible that Rob was already invested in this project and committed to the tour when he got the call about writing another album. I don't know them and I have no idea what the relationship is like between them since Rob's return.

I also don't see how Rob spending this time writing and touring stops Priest from writing another album RIGHT NOW! The only thing stopping them from doing it is the fact that someone doesn't want to! I know that someone isn't Rob. You say it isn't KK...... well, that only leaves Glenn.

If they are all pissed at each other and that's the problem, I say we send them some of those Sock'Em Bopper blow up boxing gloves and let them go at it for a couple of minutes! Then once they get it over with, SIT DOWN AND WRITE A NEW BRITISH HEAVY METAL ALBUM to leave as their legacy!

For me? Priest without Glenn wouldn't be an option. It would be akin to Maiden losing Adrian Smith. Same sort of situation, really. With Maiden, Murray is the only original member. Granted. Like KK and Ian for Priest. Both bands just found the right "formula." Break it and the center doensn't hold. I'd always be thinking Van Hagar should they replace him and still use the moniker "Priest." Then again, this comes from someone who absolutely hated the Ripper years.

Hell, I'd hate to see Priest without Ian but still think that they could pull it off. Never without Glenn.

Wait a minute...the idea of using Nostradamus as an idea for the album came from management and the band went with it. Why blame only KK?

I agree with the american down tuned pantera styled guitars in Jugulator and Demolition. Also with halford's band too. I just wish the Halford band would up=tune thier guitars and make it sound more british heavy metal and if Rob would write more material like One Will,Handing Out Bullets,Betrayal ect....

I guess it boils down to the levels of how much you like Judas Priest here. Yes they will always be my favorite band of all time, but I'm at the bottom of the chain in here,I think almost every member here likes this band more than I do. The reason I say this is because I'm "bored" with this band, sure I still have Angel Of Retribution to listen too and I'm glad for at least that but Nostradamus kicked my ass so far up between my shoulders in disappointment  that I've never been able to recover from it.

Reading posts from Hellrider now for 3 years pleading them to make a real heavy metal album....3 fucking years and I thought there would 100% definately be a new album but watching hellrider plead for a new album and then this shit is a sour taste in my mouth and it left me bitter. Rob wrote the lyrics to Heavy Duty in 84  ' "Were gonna rock ya till' your metal hungers fed".......where is this fucking "metal" Rob???

And to Ron.....if Glenn Tipton is "ill" then what is he doing going on tour .....a world wide tour that they said will last all through 2012 ....what is he touring for if he was that sick he simply wouldn't be able to pull off a 2 year world tour!!! He just wouldn't be able to.

Dio was sick too and he wasn't able to tour the world either, yet Dio "was" able to get into the studio and record an album. Now I'm not saying that if Glenn has cancer or something he should be in the I'm not saying that, but I am saying that if he is sick then he shouldn't be "touring"...that is 100% way more hard on the body than recording an album?

Again,it just boils down to how much you like this band,I still love Priest but it will take me a few years from now to appreciate them again, right now I'm disgusted with this band and its the lingering affect from Nostradamus as I fucking hate that god damn piece of shit album!!!!  That one album ruined "everything" a heavy metal fan stands for. I can't fathom seeing the band live under these circumstances, not at all and with no new album to go along with it makes it worse.

There isn't anything left for me to post here as in 2011....Murray will lock this site up after the farewell tour is finished in 2012 and no more It goes to show that K.K. Downing had his "head up his ass" when he chose to create "Nostradamus" as the band should of been preparing a real heavy metal album in 2008,he could of done Nostradamus anytime in his "off time" after Judas Priest retired because they didn't need to tour it as we all seen how "short" that Nostradamus tour was,it failed so bad they had to spark up a 30 year old album and tour it!

I do understand why most will charish 2011 and are excited to see the band live,I'm not falling into that category because I'm not as big of a fan as everybody here is. I'll put my excitement towards Motorhead and Saxon in 2011 as both bands are releasing studio albums like a band should be doing.   If they released a new studio album Victoria and I were going to see them live,I haven't seen Judas Priest "LIVE" since the Ram It Down tour in Seattle 1988!! And it looks as if thats the last time I will ever see this band live. "My choice and 'll have absolutely no regrets".

Oh hell no! That stooge is too busy trying to milk the Priest name by CO-writing a book about a couple of songs that he CO-"penned." LOL!

That and all the fine work he is producing with Dave Holland wouldn't allow him to give 1000% and produce an album with real Brian "swagger." HAAAA!

Priest with another new singer? Oh HELL NO! THAT to me would be the final insult.

As for the health theory (hope not), it is interesting and one I hadn't thought of before. Way I see it, health being the cause or not, the "break" here is Glenn. I see KK active, most certainly Rob, Scott and, sad as it is, I would even say that they would record and even tour without Ian. If Glenn was on board, that is, and I say that he is not.

Ron, I hope your right about the band not knowing this last time they played.  hope your wrong about the health issues.

JD, your right about the Pantera style.  interesting though, when priest brought in Tim they changed the guitar sound.  WTF?  their only chance of pulling off a new singer was to keep the fans that were guitar focused, then they change that up?  to me, Rob left over "creative differences"  ok we know more now but at the time that was the story.  he puts out Fight, american style metal.  Priest gets a new singer and moves towards american metal themselves????  I just see too many similaritys between jugulator and Fight.

Would anyone have given priest with tim a chance if the guitars sounded like they did in painkiller, or defenders or stained class?  would anyone have givenn priest a chance with a famous singer?  not that it was ever in the cards, but what about Tate?  Dickinson?  ozzy?  Dio?  ok maybe ozzy would be a bad fit.

There are several things I'd bet my last dollar on...

When the band played it's last set together, none of them thought it would be there last (not counting the farewell tour).

There's a health issue with one of the members.

KK would love nothing more than to be in the studio recording another Priest album.

Rob releasing a new solo album and going on two different tours now were the final nails in the Priest coffin.

To me, this reeks of the same stench that separated the band in the early 90's.  I get that KK is still young enough to keep going, but he's the youngest of the main four and it takes ALL of them to pull Priest off no matter what KK wants.  Do we want to see Priest continue with a different singer again?  I don't!!

I'm glad they're doing a final tour even though it comes without a new release, this way I can say goodbye if I choose and as many times as I choose.  I refuse to let the final years ruin 30+ years for me.  I didn't get this chance in '92 or whatever year it was.  If new Metalheads can't figure out what happend at the end, oh well, we don't get it either but it's not our choice.  Our choice is to give them the respect they've earned or not to.

I don't blame anyone for being pissed off and lashing out under the circumstances.  Some of the most interesting posts are the ones that are written off the cuff based purely on emotion.  But in my world, when the fog lifts, I love Judas Priest and I'll support them to the end.  It's the least I can do for all that they've given me in my lifetime.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, December 30, 2010 3:39:12 AM
One of the problems about the Halford band's sound to me is that the sound of the guitars sounds too "Pantera - like" and it strays away from the old British heavy metal sound,I know Rob doesn't want to sound like Priest but to me its way too Panteraish.  I think it would be cool if Halford changed the  band name "Halford"  into something totally kick ass whatever that may be and harken the sound a little bit towards Judas Priest and then write some totally kick as material like Painkiller and then forget about Judas Priest and let K.K. golf into retirement.

Its K.K.'s band, always has been and what he says goes and another studio LP simply aint gonna happen so we are unfortunately stuck with Halford if we want new material, not that the halford band is bad,its just not Judas Priest but at this point we'll take just about anything(sad).  Another aspect of this hellrider is that if Halford would write more heavy shit like an album's worth of "quality" songs like Golgotha and Crucible an entire album's worth he may grab a better fan base because Made Of Metal is far under-par quality than the Crucible album.

Even the Ressurection album is better and I think that album is nowhere near Crucible. I don't know but what a frustrating year 2011 will be with nothing happening for Judas Priest except a farewell tour and probably a boring DVD of the live shows ect... Such a shame the greatest heavy metal band in the world is letting it's legacy drown down the fucking toilet. When metalheads in the future look at the discography and notice the "decline" of the band after AOR they are going to scratch thier heads and think : "What the fuck happened to them"??????
