|Interesting, Syrup. You know, for years and years I had NO idea that they had done that in the studio. I was SO impressed with Rob's "live" vocals on that album that I could barely contain myself! All that time I thought how clean the music was and the vocals and such.....on a LIVE album!!! Then I find out it was a studio gimmick and I was crushed.|

|IMO: It appears from first listen of the tracks that were not from RITE, they have been touched up (overdubs) in the studio and the usual audience being piped in. Pretty typical as Priest of course did Unleashed in the Studio in 1979, so they know how to redo it.|

|What also disappoints me is there is no scream in Between The Hammer And The Anvil. Even moreso, there is no Hell Patrol on the CD. What were they thinking not to put that song on the CD? Are they mad? [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by tasnam1 from Thursday, July 09, 2009 12:14:14 PM)
|But if you have ripped the audio off the RITE DVD already then it truly is not new stuff....
...and the DVD audio>RIP>Audio CD sound quality is already excellent.

|I agree with everyone who says it's a slap in the face cause you've already heard them before. But thinkabout it if they had only have done songs from 2008/09 that hadn't been played live before would you not be disapointed that there is no AOR? Lets also be honest, the recordings on RITE are great and probaby the best that exist of that tour so putting them onto CD is a good thing cause you can drive down road blasting Hellrider and not need a DVD player. Next point, the album versions will undoubtably sound better than on the DVD as they will have hopefully poured a lot of time into the production so that will be good to hear. And the final point, six songs is 6 songs, that's still a good amount. To some bands that is 3/4 of an album. I'm not saying that i am not dissapointed cause i am but only a bit and every cloud has a silver lining and all of that. But i'm not dissapointed Cause when Priest do things, they do it right and when they announce their new studio album, there will be a roar from Judas Priest fans the likes that the world has never heard. Nostradamus was an awesome album in my opinion and i treasure it but it did hold something back, the heavy metal that Priest became famous for in the 80's and 90's and returned to with AOR, this next album is going to be 'IT' folks i trully believe this will be their greatest offering i know you can still cut it Halford even if it is for one last time!|

|I have to agree it is a bit of a slap in the face to die hard fans. iv already listend, and watched Rising in the east like 10000 times no joke.|
|[Screamin' Demon] Wednesday, July 08, 2009 5:11:50 AM|| |
|The fact that 6 of the 11 songs are from Rising In The East is a slap in the face to us fans. They've been working on this album for MONTHS and THIS is the result? The first disappointment came when they said only 11 songs, now it's like paying $20 only to hear 5 new songs. I'm doubtful whether I will buy this or not, but nonetheless, if this album flops, Priest will have nobody to blame other than themselves. Yes I can enjoy lsitening to the album, but it's paying for a whole album when only half of it is new stuff.|
|[kiamat] Wednesday, July 08, 2009 5:06:50 AM|| |
|I really like it! Maybe its because I don't own any of their other live albums, but I will like having one with a similar setlist to the first time I ever saw Priest- and the version of Prophecy is much better than when I saw them which makes up for any dodgy bits in Painkiller.|
|[screaming_4_priest] Wednesday, July 08, 2009 4:13:55 AM|| |
|Just listend to all the new album & i gotta say the fact that Judas Rising,Hellrider,Riding On The Wind,Beyond The Realms Of Death,Touch Of Evil, & Painkiller are all from the Rising DVD has just ruined it all for me.|
the way they have done this by saying never released before even though we know they have with ripper & then just being plain lazy n using versions of the songs we have been listning to for about 4 years now.MONEY GRAB.
i will still get it though cause its Judas Priest & the rest of the cd is still sooo awsome.

|Yeah I hear ya.....but I would rather Halford not scream the Painkiller scream in the middle of the song,....I would rather hear K.K. or Glen use thier tremolo bars to bend that note down in place of Halford's scream.|

|I think Halford's trademark screams LIVE are going to be far and few between. I'm sure he can hit those notes in the studio with rested chords. At near 60 years old the rigors of singing for hours non-stop would take it's toll. I'm sure he sings at a controlled pace to assure he makes through the entire set. It's amazing he can do what he does today with all those years of screaming.|
Yes, at times he does sound like ELMO being strangled and at others like COOKIE with a soar throat (LOL).

|I have to admit....the live version of "Painkiller" is ok all the way around except for the trade mark Halford scream in the middle just before the solo....|
.....he sounds like "Elmo" being strangled and gargled down to the ground by a dying cat!LOL!! Not a good version of this song....LOL!

|Hopefully. Though just the fact that Painkiller is from Rising In The East really ruins it all. There are so many great versions of Painkiller from 2008 that this is an abomination. I've come to think that maybe this album could be a cash grab rather than a genuine attempt to please the fans, cause otherwise they would have put a 2008 version of Painkiller.|

|Yeah you're right. I'm just bummed out by Painkiller being from Rising In The East. I hope Judas Rising and Hellrider won't be. And one thing is for sure...Between The Hammer And The Anvil, Death, Dissident Aggressor, Eat Me Alive and Prophecy will have to have been from this tour so that's still thumbs up. Maybe some other songs from 2005 won't be from Rising In The East|

|Just heard the clips. Painkiller sounds more unusual than bad. On the Rising in the East dvd, Rob wobbled a bit at the begining but was like a man possessed at the end. Its great to finally get a live album, but I agree his voice was far superior last year compared to 2005, and songs like Devils Child and Angel , and Hell Patrol just went off at Sydney last year. Its an uncomfortable collection, and the cover looks like its a throwback to the Ripper era. A strange stop-gap release as they continue into their 2nd year on the road. I would rather have got a whole gig, stuff-ups and all. But like the rest of you, I'll take anything from the Priest with gratitude [ even if this one does leave me scratching my head!].|
|[Screamin' Demon] Saturday, June 06, 2009 2:10:08 AM|| |
|I just had a listen to Painkiller from Rising In The East...it's the same one as on A Touch Of Evil. My question to 'Priest is....how could you 'Priest I'd been looking forward to hearing some much better versions of Painkiller and this one is a disappointment. If Judas Rising and Hellrider are from RITE as well then I doubt I will buy this album.|

|I don't know why they are using stuff from both 05 and 08.... why not just 08?? The Rising in the East dvd covers 05.... I personally feel that Robs vocals were better in 08....... They could have filmed some live stuff and recorded more and (hate to say it but done like what Maiden did and released a dvd / live cd from it)....... Not mixed it up like they have.....I will buy this live album to add to my collection...but certainly won't be rushing out to get it nor am I particlarly excited about it....... How about a new album Priest??.... |
|[screaming_4_priest] Friday, June 05, 2009 3:41:01 AM|| |
|Why use Beyond the realms of death & Painkiller from rising in the east, thats just stupid, come on priest there has been much better times this year for painkiller.|

However, no matter how Spinal Tap this live album may be, it'll come to my hands.
The Acolytes of the Unholy Church of Our Lord Icariotis must never (officially) challenge the PRIEST'S decisions!
That was tongue-in-cheek in case some harder nuts are trolling about.

I am sad to say Painkiller sucks live, they should never play it again. From what I heard it sounds decent, but it makes me wondor why Im a Rocker was omitted, it was awsome live.

|Hi all, gave the 4 (sample) live tracks a listen and wanted to get ur thoughts & opinions. Here are mine (IMO):|
Eat Me Alive - The true gem on the last tour, this song totally kicked ass live! Was great to hear them finally play it live and worth the wait absolutely.
Painkiller - Alot of Power behind this one, but lets be honest Halford should not be performing this live anymore. Put it on the shelf.
Beyond the Realms - This has to be from 2005-2006. Still a great showstopper for Priest, always cool to hear, but has not stood the test of time very well. Too many great versions of this song from all the previous tours, this isnt one of them.
Death - To me, this is the dark horse of the clips I heard. Sounded real tight and I love the eerieness of it. They can bring this one back for sure. Dont want to have the entire Nostradamus epic played live but this is pretty damn good.
Finally, a couple of songs that didnt make it to Touch of Evil Live disc but absolutely should have from the 2005 - 2008 tours:
Devils Child (2008) - Sounded great and Rob friggin nailed it. Loved it!
Hot Rockin' (2005) - To me, this was the best track on the Budokan DVD. Great dusted classic and live it put the crowd into a frenzy. Sorely omitted, why?
