Yes I agree. I don't want them to "copy" an album or copy Angel Of Retribution no,but alls I'm saying is that it doesn't have to have a Painkiller sound or a Painkiller swagger to be better than Painkiller.I agree with everything you've just said.

AOR was a great one. To have them back and get that jewel in return was fantasic. I agree nobody wanted Lochness, but the rest was solid. I loved it.
If you want to say AOR went back to the days Rob was with them no doubt, but it was better than some of those records. Not the best, but enough to make us all sit up and PAY ATTENTION once again. Let's face it, most of us die hard fans got non participant when Rob left, most of us HATED Ripper! The song writing suffered without Rob and the ideas seem to just implode into the populus of  music. Horrible way for such a time honored band to go.
I must say in defense of Halford it's a good thing we were all so disenchanted, because if we had not been Resurrection whould have been Rob's break out album and put him at the top again.
Thanks to us completely narrow minded fans, Priest came back together! Rob now gets to have his cake and eat it too, and I for one could not be Happier with the situation as it is now!
I expect Rob to return to JP with his ideas and all new material and deliver a rock solid performance on an awesome studio album. Weather he can keep up those screams in concert anymore remains to be seen. It's too much to ask of a 20 year old much less a man of his age, but to be certain, he will do his best on record and we will get his best.

No not at all hellrider, you are entitled to your opinion just as anybody else is. But yes,I think to 99% of Judas Priest fans saying "Demonizer" doesn't feel like Priest will leave each and every one scratching thier heads. But there are people out there who think that Painkiller isn't really Judas Priest either, usually old fans in thier mid 50's or early 60's but everybody has thier own opinion. I'm just absolutely glad that I am one of the fans who like the entire Angel Of Retribution album except for Lochness.

To me Angel Of Retribution ranks in at number # 5 when I think of the band's best albums and barely tops Defenders Of The Faith, even if Defenders tops it then Angel Of Retribution would be at # 6 out of 16 studio albums so I'm very lucky to have an album I like thats within the 6 best Priest albums of all time. For you and others it may rank somewhere around 12 or so,it is what it is. But alls I'm really saying is that the next album may not have a Painkiller sound or style.

And  spapad.....they kind of did go back in time with the Angel Of Retribution album and remember the band members saying they were trying to achieve a sound that would fit in with Screaming For Vengeance and Defenders Of The Faith and if you think about it Angel Of Retribution does have that type of sound that fits inbetween Screaming For Vengeance's sound and Defenders Of The Faith's sound like the band members said it would be.

Hellrider 30138,they may do an album like this, you will be utterly disappointed if they do...are you prepared for this?lol!

Yes I agree,if it is in the vien of Painkiller with quality songs  than so be it,if its in the vien and the album sounds like 1978's "Hell Bent For Leather" with "quality songs" than so be it. I just don't get why they have to do a Painkiller album and I don't get the reasoning that if they don't do a Painkiller album it will be a "bust"??? After the Painkiller album, why can't they harken back to a Screaming For Vengeance sounding album as long as 80% of the songs are kick ass metal?

Judas Rising and Demonizer don't feel like Judas Priest to you?    WOW. Thats all I have to say about that. During the British Steel 30th year aniversary tour Glenn mentioned that the possibility of making a "retro sounding" album are quit interesting, and thats while playing British Steel night after night,so there is a chance that this next album will not sound like "Painkiller" and I guess if it doesn't then you and Brian don't have to buy it. I'll buy 10 copies of that mother if it turns out as good as Angel Of Retribution. If I want something heavier than Painkiller I can listen to many other cds..."Immortal's Sons Of Northern Darkness" smokes the Painkiller album if you want to talk about heaviness and hard core extreme metal albums, but if its only British Heavy Metal then yes,Painkiller would be the heaviest.  Priest is not a band that "rips your face off"....they are a band that has 1 album that has 3 or 4 songs on it that rips your face off.

Why are you here now, just to celebrate one album? Thats crazy but to each his own.

I like Agent Steel's first album "Skeptics Apacalypse" from 1985 but its the only Agent Steel album that I like,so you being here for the Painkiller album would be like me joining the Agent Steel forum to cellebrate the Skeptics Apacolypse album from 1985. So its ok for the Defenders Of The Faith album not to sound like Painkiller because it was released 6 years earlier than Painkiller, but its not ok if they make an album now like Defenders because its after the Painkiller album?   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Brian_Evans from Friday, September 10, 2010 7:36:17 PM)

Just keep the faith man and maybe the Priest will deliver another bad boy Painkiler type cd. Quality solos, vocals, bass, drums, quality songwriting ...ect. Ha! I agree that Hellrider is the best track on AOR, or maybe Judas Rising.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, September 10, 2010 6:34:35 PM
But they haven't really ever made an album like what your describing hellrider, even Painkiller isn't as heavy as you describe. I really don't think that Hell Patrol,Leather Rebel,Night Crawler,Between The Hammer & The Anvil,A Touch Of Evil,Battle Hymn or One Shot At Glory are really that in your face rip em' up hard core and thats 7 songs from the Painkiller album. I think the only 3 songs like this for as heavy as british heavy metal can go is the song "Painkliier","All Guns Blazing" and "Metalmeltdown".

But I do think that Judas Rising and Demonizer are actually "heavier" than those 7 songs off the Painkiller album.I think the song Demonizer is as heavy as any track from the Painkiller album yet it doesn't have that Painkiller sound, neither does the song hellrider. I understand that your hoping that for the first time in history the band will put out "ALL" songs like the song "Painkiller" but that is a "long shot" my friend, the odds of this are extremely against it but if they did pull it off  without going into fucking thrash   then that would be cool, but they have always been a band of variety and again, look at those 7 songs from the Painkiller album I listed, they are really not that hard core.I guess if they don't make the Painkiller sound then you and Brian will be butt hurt and I understand why,but if the album is of excellent "quality" tracks like Judas Rising or Demonizer 80% of the album then most of us will flip out for it!!

HEY COMMANDER I DONT EXPECT THEM RECORD IT IN A DAY AND PLAY THE ENTIRE ALBUM ON ITS TOUR ON EACH TOUR DATE ALL OVER THE WORLD .THEY ONLY NEED TO RECORD IT ONCE TAKING THERE TIME .THEY CAN FUC?EN DO IT MAN.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, September 10, 2010 5:34:00 PM
Well,I guess for hellrider 31038 and Brian Evans if this next Judas Priest album isn't as strong and doesn't have the "Painkiller swagger" then the album will "suck".And thats ok,thats ok, I'm not saying that they can't have this opinion, thats fine and I get it.    One word: "WOW".

Well, the 2 of you will be disappointed if it doesn't turn out like Painkiller but if it turns out great classic songs as heavy as "Judas Rising" or "Demonizer" or "Hellrider" with a few tracks as good as "Hell Bent For Leather" and "Freewheel Burning"  with the Angel Of Retribution sound mixed with it's original sound I think 95% of fans will flip over it,I know I would.

Sure I'm a fan of "Painkiller" but I guess being into black metal and death metal from the early 80's the Painkiller album is rather "tame" compared to classic black metal releases. I don't think Judas Priest is really a "hard core" band, and I don't think the Painkiller album is "hard core" all the way through. Leather Rebel was not that far off of Defenders sound,Between The Hammer & The Anvil is basic classic Judas Priest as well as A Touch Of Evil,Battle Hymn and One Shot At Glory.Even Night Crawler has much melody over extreme hard heavy metal.

The 4 songs on Painkiller that are the most extreme heavy metal at it's limit are the tracks : "Painkiller,Hell Patrol,All Guns Blazing and Metal Meltdown and now I'm thinking Hell Patrol isn't as heavy as the other 3 mentioned. Even Jugulator wasn't blistering all the way through,I don't think that at age 60 the Metal Gods will deliver 10 straight tracks of the intensity of "Painkiller"(the song) or "Metal Meltdown" if they did "without going into thrash" then that would kick ass,but if they churn out tracks like "Between The Hammer And The Anvil" or "A Touch Of Evil" or "Wheels Of Fire" mixed with heavy ass tracks of quality without a Painkiller swagger then I'm ok with that.

We'll see with the first single from the new album whenever that may be,if its not Painkiller-like then Brian and hellrider31038 can save thier money and simply "not buy the album".Its that simple.Think of it this way,if the new album doesn't turn out like Painkiller then at least they can't take away the copy of Painkiller from you and you can pump Judas Priest's Painkiller and sell every other disc since they are not like Painkiller including "Unleashed In The East".

But We'll see what is delivered,I just think that now I have a better chance at getting a british heavy metal masterpiece with this next album because if it turns out like Angel Of Retribution or Defenders Of The Faith then I'll be in the same spot that Nostradamus fans are in now,I always envy those Nostradamus fans because "to them" they received a masterpiece from my favorite band  that has more albums than just "Painkiller".....Judas Priest!!!

Why isn't that jack off at the Iron Maiden forum instead of here? He is obviously just trying to "butter up" hellrider and rub his balls because of his love for the Painkiller album, don't worry hellrider sees right through this bullshit. Sure hellrider's fav album is Painkiller but if the new album were to turn out like a sound of Angel Of Retribution with all 10 songs heavy as shit like Judas Rising,Demonizer and Hellrider with no soft songs I'm sure hellrider would love it even if it didn't have the fuckin "Painkiller swagger". Hellrider is a "Judas Priest" fan,not just a "Painkiller fan" and trying to rub his balls and butter him up isn't going to change that fact.

So if the new album comes out with of course it's own personality but still in the vien like the sound and style of albums like Hell Bent For Leather,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith or Angel Of Retribution then the album will not be any good to you? If so then you are a Painkiller fan only? If that is the truth then why are you even here? Judas Priest's next album doesn't have to have a Painkiller swagger to be "better" than Painkiller.  I actually think that Sad Wings Of Destiny is "better" than Painkiller. Judas Priest isn't all about "Painkiller".  Priest has to make the next album like one album in thier career"Painkiller" and yet its ok with you that Iron maiden can do anything and its ok with you even if you've never even heard it yet? Your fucking "pathetic" and I don't buy it,I call bullshit.

I agree with you there man,100%, the new cd will have to have quality solos, vocals, bass, drums ect. These are the essential elements of a quality metal cd, especially the solos. But also it's gonna have to have what I've been describing here as the Painkiller swagger. Painkiller was one bad boy of a cd and contained a certain metal swagger they need to get back. I think they can do this and create another bad boy cd with that metal swagger. Sure it can have its own character like you were saying but Painkiller is definitely the direction they need to take. Now I know some people will disagree and everyone has their opinion so I respect that too. If I'm reading you right here  your favorite Priest cd is Painkiller so I doubt you will be disappointed if the new cd is similar to Painkiller.

He may as well said it helllrider, and who is he to judge a good Priest record? This is coming from a jack off who says "anything" Iron Maiden does is 100% top notch kick ass,and he is saying either Painkiller or bust? I know you like the Defenders Of The Faith album as well as I do,and if the new Priest album was in the vien of Freewheel Burning,The Sentinel,Heavy Duty,Jawbreaker, every song on the album like these with a Defenders influenced sound it would not be as heavy as Painkiller and you may not have got what you originally wanted but it sure as hell could be just as good with the right song writting arangments ect...and I'm sure you would like it,and this Braindead Evans would say its a bust because its not Painkiller?  Now thats a joke.

All this "Priest has to make the solos this way,and Priest has to make it that way"..ect..blah blah blah and they have to get thier swagger from the Painkiller era ect... so Judas Priest has to do all these things to have your opinion about them creating a good album but Iron Maiden can do "ANYTHING" and "EVERYTHING" shuffled up and thrown like a deck of cards and no matter how they fall you will like it just the same?

LOMFL! You are such a mother fucking "JOKE" ,nobody gives a rats ass what you say in here or what you think about Judas Priest,NOBODY. Mother fuckin Iron Maiden "FANBOY who wets the bed".

All the solos don't have to be fast like Painkiller but of high quality. Like the solo in Metal Gods off of British Steel. Thats on of my favourite Glenn Tiption solos of all time and its top notch. These solos could make or break the next cd. Along with good songwriting and vocals too.
Know what i'm saying?

I agree with you man. But Priest is going to have to get back their swagger before they attempt the new cd. And I'm talking about the
Painkiller swagger they had during painkiller era. Yes their solos will have to be killer for this new cd to be any good. if their just kind of mediocre then it won't work. Nothing less. It just seems like they have lost their swagger after Nostradamus and they need toget it back with the new cd.

Yeah its now or possibly never, this is the Super Bowl of all albums to deliver something "classic" that can stand next to albums like Hell Bent For Leather, British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith,Painkiller and Angel Of Retribution. I just can't see many people wanting to see an entire  album of Nostradamus preformed live, unless it was one concert only perhaps? I don't know but like I said by the time the band starts touring again it will be at least near summer  2011 wich makes the album already 3 years old.

They have always been a band that moves forwards and with the British Steel tour thats something thats unique for being 30 years in cellebration but why go back 3 years to again tour the Nostradamus album? I just hope they realize that they need to push forwards and make a normal blistering Judas Priest British heavy metal album and tour that!

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, August 31, 2010 1:36:05 AM
I totally agree hellrider, there has to be a point in time where they realize that by the time of kicking off any kind of Nostradamus tour it would be around the summer of 2011 wich is 3 long years since they released Nostradamus,so why would they want to go "backwards" instead of moving thier career "forwards"?

It just doesn't make any sense to me that they would even think about doing a full blown Nostradamus tour this late in the game? They really need to pack up the "N" album and shelve it along side Turbo and Demolition and just create some bloody british heavy metal music, they really can put out an album that can match the mighty "Painkiller" album song for song so this will be very interesting in how they respond.

So now its the big waiting game hellrider, the question is sometime in 2011 when they are ready to roll again are they actually going to do the Nostradamus album live or will they begin works on a new metal album? If they do chose to do the Nostradamus tour, then we won't get anything new until 2012 possibly 2013. That would suck.

I fuckin love this band and have since 1981!!!!!!  I love Angel Of Retribution(except for Lochness!lol!)

But I wish that the next album's songs are all strong all the way through,I'd like to hear material like Judas Rising,Demonizer,Hellrider,Painkiller,All Guns Blazing,Nightcrawler,Metalmeltdown and ect....They are capable of releasing an extremely heavy album even at age 60 where other bands may not,Priest is the best heavy metal band in the world and I think they have something to prove to those who said they lost it after the Nostradamus album and that includes myself!

Loud and clear hellrider don't get me wrong,I'd love to see and hear this next album in the vien of Painkiller's heaviness, but if they do an album of earlier style it will be on purpose like Angel Of Retribution was.If they do a style like Screaming For Vengeance it would be cool if they did all the songs in the vien of Electric Eye,Riding On The Wind,Bloodstone,Screaming for Vengeance,Devil's Child and leave out the "Take These Chains" and "Fever" type of tracks.

Or something like in the vien of Angel Of Retribution but this time all the songs in the vien of Demonizer,Hellrider,Judas Rising and although they are decent tracks for Angel Of Retribution(except Lochness),leave out tracks like Angel,Worth Fighting For,Revolution and Lochness only because of the idea of creating a solid album all the way through of blistering classic heavy Judas Priest. I hope they give us at least 8 songs like this and I could handle 2 songs like "A Touch Of Evil" if the songs were quality and instant classics.

But definately  I'm not ruling out a chance for a Painkiller style with this next album, because it would be just like them to release Nostradamus thier most soft album to date in 2008 and then release thier heaviest (or at least as heavy as Painkiller) album to date in 2011. !!!!!!!!!

Hell yeah Head Banger! Thats what I'm sayin, that would kick balls if the new album's  "sound"  were in the vien of the songs  "Hell Bent For Leather" and "Electric Eye"  or somewhere in that realm. If they do it in the vien of Painkiller that would kick balls too,but for me as I've said it really doesn't  have to be.

Retribution could of been a tad bit better if they had a couple more heavier tracks like Demonizer or Hellrider in place of Revolution,Angel and Lochness...that would of made up a better album and still wouldn't of been in the same leauge as the sounds of the Painkiller album, but just as good in my opinion.

So far Brian_Evans and hellrider say "Painkiller or bust"!  I couldn't imagine many others would agree with this as there are still albums like Stained Class,Hell Bent For Leather,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith,Angel Of Retribution to harken sounds from that would make up just as good of an album....no?

Well I hear what your saying Hellrider and don't get me wrong, they may just go into a Painkiller style with this next album and yes I'd be thrilled but if it doesn't happen, then thats totally fine by me as well. Painkiller doesn't make up Priest's discography,Hell Bent For Leather,British Steel,Screaming For Vengeance,Defenders Of The Faith and Angel Of Retribution  are 5 other albums with a less agressive sound than Painkiller and are classics as you know.

I'd actually be stoked if the sound was a retro Hell Bent For Leather mixed with a British Steel sound(like Steeler) or something like that,or even in the vien of Angel Of Retribution's heaviest songs like Demonizer,Hellrider,Judas Rising. But thats just me,I know your passion for the Painkiller album and thats well respected. I guess if they don't match Painkiller in every way you'll be disappointed.

For me,alls they have to do is stay away from creating an album like Turbo,Ram It Down(because its only half good),Demolition and Nostradamus and create a classic british styled heavy metal album and if there are 9 out of 10 songs that totally kick ass I'll be happy....especially after the atrocity that was the "N" album.

One thing I like about Maiden is their sound has progressed over the years but it still sounds like Iron maiden style metal.

But they did "rehash" old material when they created Angel Of Retribution, they did it with Jugulator,Painkiller,Defenders too. The last 7 studio albums by Saxon are rehashed and are the best of the band's career.

The word rehashed used here is basically the same as staying true to your roots, sticking to your guns at what you do best.Surely they "rehashed" songs for Retribution but the album isn't a clone of any other and also with Jugulator,it doesn't sound like Painkiller,Defenders is rehashed but doesn't sound like Screaming For Vengeance.

Look at AC/DC's Black Ice album,15 songs on the LP and 11 of them are instant classics and they did it by rehashing thier old material and its because the songs themselves are good. Motorhead is the same way, thier last album Motorizer is excellent with every track and they did it by rehashing thier old material and again coming up with "excellent" songs themselves. They didn't need to "progress" to achieve a killer album and neither does Priest, even though Priest have tried to experiment they have always come back to thier roots and thats what we all want.

So yeah,I'd like the band to "rehash" old material to give us something normal, something british styled heavy metal, back to basics again. I wouldn't want the band to progress forwards are you kidding me? Thats what happend with Turbo,Demolition and Nostradamus...the 3 albums by Judas Priest that are under every other album in my opinion.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazookajoe_666 from Saturday, July 24, 2010 3:17:07 PM)
