climate change is a constant.  California 5000 years ago was much warmer and dryer.  then it cooled.  how many glaciers are in california today?

It's likely that bisons produce as much methane as cows, or maybe more due to their bigger size. And yeah, there were huge numbers of them before good ol' Man nearly hunted them down to extinction, so lots of methane must have been present in the Great Plains waaay back in the day.

I also heard that global warming occured more than once throughout Earth's history, before humans came around. One period in particular that had a high amount of greenhouse gases was the Jurassic period (or was it Triassic? I don't remember). So...could it mean that the dinosaurs also farted?

I live near cow farms.  now, if GHG is true, did bison produce methane at the rate of cows?  there used to be a hell of a lot of bison around.

While I understand vegans (well, sort of), Im really confused by the kinds of vegetarians that wont eat meat, but eat fish. Or eggs. Sure, there are people who cant for medical reasons (like allergies), but to be against brutality to cows, but not fish, just sounds a bit weird.

Yup. I read about that a while back. Their flatulence contains high levels of methane, one of the so-called "greenhouse gases". Have you ever seen a cow farm? It's basically a methane-producing factory.

A vegan is basically a hard-core vegetarian. Vegans avoid consuming or USING animals or animal byproducts.

that climate change as a man made phenomenon is bogus and for man to think that he can influence nature like that on a global scale is profound arogance and ignorance at the same time.

Did Bison fart?

Maybe I should have wrote...not a vegetarian...instead of Vegan.  Not sure what the difference is.  So, do tell your point of view, you've piqued my curiosity...

That's why I'm NOT a Vegan lol  Every time I eat meat I feel I'm doing my part to curb global warming!!  ; )

I read cow farts were being blamed for global warming a while ago.

Nah, not really. Cows and calves fart all the time. If it were "Once upon a time there was a cow that shot fire from its butthole...", then that would be pretty cool. And so would, "Once upon a time there was a guy who was known as 'The Rickroller Extraordinaire' ".   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by _strat_ from Monday, September 20, 2010 10:18:03 PM)

I think I know of one such person...

Wouldnt that be a great story?

See? It would make your grandkids pay attention to you. I mean, who wouldn't want to know what it's like to go to the supermarket in a canoo? Or why?

Nice looking? Well, I suppose... Story to tell my grandchildren: "When I was your age, I had to go to the supermarket in a canoo!"
