Seems to me this song is a story more about metal then Nostradamus

alienation and separation are staples of priest songs, we are not blended with the rest of the world.
or else we'd be homogenized like pop music where it has no real face at all.

In my head the song means that we metal fans are looked upon as crap by so many people, and the song says, we don't care, were strong in numbers, so just leave us alone ... But thats just my understanding of it ... And I agree :o)

LMAO to Ron for the divorce thing

That's cool too!!    (usually I just get divorced when that happens just kidding)...but I would be disappointed if they didn't include Alone as regular song on their future tours, along with Exiled

I'm not sure if it means to me, a wanting to be left alone, as much as it is being made to feel alone.  I think the desire to be accepted is what I get from it...

I would say that ALONE has three meanings:

#1  Nostradamus - his life
#2  Heavy Metal Fans - The life Style
#3  Gay / Homosexual lifestyle - being isolated

It makes sense this way.

It is the Trifecta meaning of the song - of the wanting to be left ALONE

Now see thats what i thought too, I had no idea Halford related Nostradamus's struggle to Metal. Thats pretty wicked! First listening to the album Exhiled and Alone were the two songs that stuck out above all, probably the rough patch i was going through then, but Alone just seemed to be speaking for all of us. I just was curious if any one else felt that this was a song... well all about us.

I wanted to quote somebody, but by the time I read all the posts, I liked and agreed with all of you.  I think it's the best song of the release, my personal favorite track, and it totally relates to Metal!!

Alone is most definitely a metal anthem!  Arguably one for the ages!  While the song refers to JP's interpretation of a period in Nostradamus' life, lyrically, it calls to metal fans everywhere and says what we have all thought at one time or another.

On several occasions Rob makes this connection between Nostradamus' life and heavy metal - the rejection, the misunderstanding, the trial - literal and fictional, the prejudice, the ups and downs... I think you have caught it right

I know it's my favorite song, so I really don't care what you call it. I just call it awesome.

Ok really
"They say we are fools, we say look at you"
"Long ago, we were just a few, still say we dont need you"

The repeated "WE" and the only real reference to anything Nostradamian( ya you read it right) is

"In years to come you'll hear my name"
" When darkness falls on Judgement day"

Is this just me, anyone else see this too?
