Who's harder?

[Drummaboy] Thursday, October 06, 2011 9:23:21 PM
That's tough one. No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith was the first Metal vinyl album I ever bought when it first came out and that was before I bought any of Maiden's stuff. But I just seemed to get into Maiden in a much bigger way especially from Beast through to Seventh Son. HUGE Maiden follower back then. Then I lost interest until Dickinson and Smith returned. I'm only now getting back into Motorhead and rediscovering the back catalogue and the most recent run of albums are awesome. I'd have to pick Maiden over Motorhead but I love 'em both:).
[AnaCalavera] Wednesday, October 05, 2011 9:56:12 PM
I am a greater fan of Maiden than Motorhead because of the same reason of listening to them longer time than to Motorhead.
They have released great albums time after time. Musically, always awesome. Good lyrics, awesome music.
[daseeker] Tuesday, October 04, 2011 11:28:49 AM
Wow what a topic? If there wasnt a Motorhead would there be a Maiden? But if it were not for Maiden would Metal have been as big? Damn I have to have BOTH!
[Rik_] Wednesday, July 20, 2011 9:53:08 AM
Got tickets to see Maiden this weekend. Saw them a couple of years ago when they played the whole of "matter of life and death" which was too much for me as it turned out. Looks like the set  list for this year, if what I've read is accurate, is going to feature songs mainly from their last few albums including Final frontier which I lost interest in after one listen. Looks like it's going to be a lonnnnng night again!

At least if Motorhead play a couple of tracks you don't like they don't take up half the show time.

I prefer Motörhead, and Iron Maiden tend to get a little too repetitive for my taste.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Wednesday, July 20, 2011 3:15:27 AM
I absolutely disagree. Maiden does not "rock hard" with studio albums these days. The last "rocking hard" album Iron Maiden has done was 1984's Powerslave. And thats the problem...they are too intelligent and it shows by the ridiculous progression every lame studio album has these last 26 years.

I haven't listened to both bands too much but I must say Iron Maiden. They both rock pretty hard, but Lemmy's vocals got old to me after a while, his voice jsut kind of sounds like the same thing. Bruce is a great singer, I also find Maiden to be more intelligent.

Iron Maiden , been a fan of them from 1986 . I have got all their studio albums and live ones aswell

Who’d win in a fist-fight, Lemmy or God? TRICK QUESTION! LEMMY IS GOD!
[geterdone] Monday, May 02, 2011 8:43:20 PM
why not both?, they both rock it hard,, however, maiden does do it with more clearity and finess,  but motorhead has that raw in your face kick your ass slap you in the chops to wake you up sound, you gota love them both man , they both truely define HEAVY METAL
[Rik_] Sunday, May 01, 2011 7:32:44 AM

Maiden are more consistent and have sold many more  albums.
Maiden could headline any major fest in the world..Motorhead could not but i still like em.

is more than a month I'm not writing and still to decide if Motorhead or Maiden ?

Motorhead
[Gobberz] Tuesday, March 08, 2011 5:21:25 AM
Without a shadow of a doubt Motorhead. They technically (sound) might not be as diverse as Maiden, but Motorhead just have better music. But, Im not saying Iron Maiden are bad though.
[Juda Svećenik] Monday, March 07, 2011 4:36:24 PM
Motorhead, no doubt... and very underrated :/
[Vaillant 3.0] Tuesday, March 01, 2011 1:04:36 AM
That and they each have a mascot. Iron Maiden has Eddie...and Motörhead has the ever adorable Snaggletooth.

Mötorhead by far, raw and uncomplicated, just like metal is supposed to be.... you know Maiden kinda lacks of power, rawness, heavyness, they are by far more commercial, mainstream, and their drums are kinda softie...

[ScottW] Monday, February 28, 2011 9:38:37 PM
Depends on my mood.  Motorhead is a straight forward ass kickin' band.  Mostly power no polish at all.  Maiden is more intricate and progressive.

Motorhead!!! beacause motorhead is Rock & Roll and despite their long career, they conserve the spark and the power on each song.
[Mizz.MyKillzzz] Wednesday, February 16, 2011 12:14:30 PM
Motorhead!i just love Lemmys raspy sexy vocals.i cant wait to see Motorhead live March11!!Iron Maiden is cool to but hella trendy.&a little boring after a while,i never get tired of listening to Motorhead :) sooo i prefer them. :D
[Jimi6] Wednesday, February 16, 2011 11:19:52 AM
My opinion is that Motorhead are harder...because of the singing style and the Force..xaxa...But I think Maiden are way more better...
[JeffofDoom] Wednesday, February 16, 2011 11:14:05 AM
Maiden. I first heard Motorhead a fair bit earlier than Maiden, but I tend to like bands more for the guitar than the singing and although Killed by Death and Rock'n'Roll have good solos, most Motorhead songs are just Lemmy and a not-too-great riff. Iron Maiden has a great singer in Bruce Dickinson, so even if they didn't make a point of having a great guitar solo in nearly every song, I'd still go for them, but they do, so they win by quite a lot more.
[heykyleinsf] Wednesday, February 16, 2011 2:04:36 AM
Please.... Maiden
[sadwings76] Tuesday, February 15, 2011 11:35:57 PM
Earlier Maiden...maybe.....actually no. Honestly I  can't bang my head to Maiden, they're like the Backstreet boys of metal..... maiden is cool and all but Motorhead just has that extra kick I need so Motorhead all the way. . . <- just because that's cool
[YngwiePriestRule!!] Monday, January 24, 2011 11:17:11 PM
Maiden all the way!!! Motorhead sucks. Lemmy has a horrible voice, and they only play a couple of chords. Motorhead is basically a punk band that tries to be a metal band. Maiden is a progressive metal band that plays with immense power, but also beauty and musicianship. Maiden rules!!!!! How can we even compare the glorious Maiden to the likes of noisy, rough, homely Motorhead??
[sentinel84] Sunday, January 16, 2011 11:54:07 AM
killers is one of the greatest metal records ever and so is their debut but other than that and a few of the Bruce Dickinson albums they really didn't do anything too special. But motörhead has been great since day 1. Nothing but good stuff. So I'd say motörhead
[Line1974] Sunday, January 16, 2011 8:46:04 AM

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, December 07, 2010 3:54:03 PM
Brand new Motorhead first song on the LP : "Born To Lose"....album "The World Is Yours" due out Jan.2011 This shit is kick ass and sounds like early 80's Motorhead, the whole album rocks and is better than 2008's Motorizer which was one great album. Motorhead is far above Iron Maiden with consistancy.

I actually got into Head and Maiden at about the same time.  "number" and "no sleep" were purchased pretty close together.  When I was a younger man I really enjoyed Maiden, especially singing it.  Years of abuse and hard living has put me in more of a Motorhead frame of mind over the past few years. Listen to Motorhead every week, Maiden about once a month or so.

Motorhead absolutely destroys Iron Maiden from 1986 to 2010 by "FAR".  Now  if you want to talk about back in the day(the early1980's) then I would have to go with Maiden's first 5 studio albums.
But we aren't talking about that,so its fuckin' Motorhead!!!!!!!!!

[J.D. DIAMOND] Sunday, August 15, 2010 2:17:28 PM
Lemmy has said on several occasions in interviews that Motorhead are a rock and roll band, the heaviest! Before the first track of each show Lemmy announces "We are Motorhead and we play rock and roll". And he has been saying this for over 30 years now.   I agree that sometimes riffs dip into a "heavy metal" sound but really the structures of Motorhead songs are really just heavy hard rock and roll.  I also have said that the "champions" of british heavy metal are Judas Priest,Saxon and Motorhead...and Motorhead was added in to replace Iron Maiden as Maiden is not a heavy metal band anymore hahaha!!!

I agree, but why do you consider Motorhead a rock band? I think that most of their stuff (recent most of all) is very metal.

The lates Maiden album is good, yeah. But I agree - its like its from a different band. No wonder they play their old stuff on concerts.

Its "sad" that a "rock band" like Motorhead are actually "harder" and much "heavier" than a supposed to be heavy metal band in Iron Maiden. I don't think Iron Maiden play heavy metal anymore when they write studio albums, its more like progressive rock, even the AMALAD album that I still like, its not "metal" anymore.

Motorhead - The Thousand Names Of God - 2008 Motorizer Yeah I can't stand the March Or Die album,I may sink Another Perfect Day LP to the bottom just before March Or Die but its way better. Motorizer is an excellent LP and I'm sure this next album coming out later this year will be a jewel in the Motorhead discography.

That 2008 song is very nice. Motorhead has been around for decades now, so it's really cool to hear that they can still deliver. I'll check out the entire LP. I'm sure I can find all the tracks on youtube.

I'm not a big fan of the Ted Nugent song either, but Motörhead's version of it rules! It's like a 100 times better than the original version.

I really dig the March Or Die LP. But I definitely understand why you wouldn't like it, because it was released during Motorhead's "Hollywood years". ROFL! So it's a tad more trendy which is quite alright, because sometimes I like trendy. LOL!

I never liked Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever song to begin with,I hate it actually and my system won't handle it but I can see why you may like the cover track. In my opinion the March Or Die album is the only lame Motorhead album as the other 18 albums crush this one. Here is Buried Alive from the last LP 2008 Motorizr! Tracks like these are why Motorhead are better than Iron Maiden. DOWN THE IRONS.
