Yeah, it's just a matter of finding the right people, playing bass isn't my top priority at the moment.. i was thinking about getting my guitar fixed up. Whatever happened to the guitar garage? i need to find someone decent that can fix it at a good price - The nut needs replacing, and the tuning pegs replaced, i think it's about 20+ yrs old. My mate found it in her garage and gave it to me.. belonged to her stepdad's old flatmate. hahaha he never knew it went missing
Might add... not only is Steve Harris excellent on Bass... he's sooooooooo sexy!       ! Keep posting more pictures people!

Hey devils_child! I`m an ex-Bass player, Drummer, Guitarist and Vocalist from years back! Live the dream dude! There`s plenty of people who want to live the dream out there man! ME INCLUDED! I use to kick around in the early 90`s with a band called Ravage (Heavy Metal-Speed Metal outfit)! Man.....Those were the days! Obviously I settled down and had kids and got married, but I guess.......THERE`S ALWAYS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!

It's hard to vote for just one bass player--as they are all great in their own way but if I was told I had to pick a few they would have to be
Steve Harris
Ian Hill
Duff Mckagen  ( I think I spelled his last name wrong )
Rudy Sarzo

I used to be in a band in high school... now i just play for fun / when bored. If i found the right people i'd give it another shot... another shot at glory!!

Steve Harris is my favourite , he has given me alot of inspiration for my own bass playing. I also have alot of admiration for Geezer Butler, Ian Hill, the late John Entwistle & Cliff Burton.

Steve Harris - Iron Maiden

John Paul Jones - Led Zeppelin

Geezer Butler - Black Sabbath

Ian Hill - Judas Priest

Cliff Williams - AC/DC

I picked 5 bass players, but it is hard to pick the best. If forced to give a answer i would say Steve Harris or John Paul Jones.

Oh Lord....there are just way too many phenomenal bass players out there to categorize just ONE as being  'best of the heap...'       Let's keep in mind too here gang...just because a given bass player can be fluid as water on the fretboard (and admittedly, on such thicker strings),  my feeling is;  much like overtly fluid guitarists, there is a very fine line between being fluid, and being overtly noodly and masturbatory.      A good bass player understands and appreciates the difference between the need to be melodic and fluid from the need to provide ample bottom and rhythm intensive structures.       For my money,  the bass players who best exhibit these skills would include (but are not limited to):

Geezer Butler
Geddy Lee
Greg Lake  (E.L.P)
Steve Harris
Cliff Burton
John Taylor (Duran Duran....yeh, I said it!!!  XP )
...any bass player who's worked with  Steely Dan...(for which, there have been many)
Ian Hill
Gene Simmons (he has more skill than most people would credit) I said...there are others...their names either escape me, or I can't remember what names of the bands they once they occur to me...I'll give 'em mention...
